New in 2026

Booking your practical test has changed

  1. From 31 March 2026

    2 changes per booking

    After two changes you have to cancel and rebook, which usually means a longer wait.

  2. From 12 May 2026

    Only you can book

    Your instructor can no longer book or change your test for you.

  3. From 9 June 2026

    Moves stay within the 3 nearest centres

    After booking, you can only move to one of the 3 nearest centres, or back to your original one. So choose carefully first time.

Questions learners ask

Is LicencePath free?

Yes. While we launch, every feature is free for learners, instructors and schools, and we will tell you before paid plans start. You arrange and pay for lessons with your instructor.

Do you book or change my test?

No. Since May 2026 only you can book and manage your test, on GOV.UK. We never access your DVSA account. We help you choose a centre, keep track of your changes and warn you before one is used.

Do I need an instructor to start?

No. Start with theory and hazard clips on your own. Connect an instructor whenever you have one.

Are these the real DVSA questions?

Our questions cover the DVSA theory topics but are not official DVSA content unless marked.

How does the readiness score work?

It combines your theory mocks, hazard practice and your instructor’s assessments, and shows which parts have evidence. It is guidance, not a guarantee. When there is little evidence it says so.

What can my instructor or school see?

You connect to an instructor by accepting their invite. Then they can see your theory and hazard results, your readiness and your lessons with them, and add notes on your driving. You can disconnect in Settings at any time. If your instructor works for a driving school, its owner or manager can see your name, your instructor, your next lesson, your test date, whether you use the app and your balance. The school’s pupil list does not show your contact details or your instructor’s teaching notes.

Can my parent follow my progress?

If you want. Share a private link from Settings so they can see your progress and what your instructor wants you to practise. It expires after 90 days and you can switch it off at any time.
