1. Who we are
LicencePath AI (“we”, “us”) provides an app that helps you prepare for the UK driving licence - the DVSA theory test, hazard perception and the practical test. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. We are not affiliated with the DVSA or DVLA.
2. What data we collect
- Account data: your email address and authentication details (handled by our auth provider).
- Profile & onboarding: your name, country, licence category, target test date, provisional status, transmission preference, study pace and language.
- Learning data: your practice attempts, mock results, hazard-perception timings, readiness scores, flashcard progress, driving-practice logs and trip recordings you choose to make.
- Booking & monitoring data: if you use cancellation monitoring you may give us your DVSA booking reference, the last 3 characters of your driving licence and your current test date. We use these only to check GOV.UK for earlier dates on your behalf; we never store your full licence number.
- Location: a base postcode or approximate location you provide, used to find nearby test centres and instructors.
- Instructor data (instructors only): your ADI/PDI number, vehicle, rates, availability, service area and CPD records.
- Coaching messages: questions you ask the AI coach (processed to generate a reply; chat history is held in your browser session and not stored on our servers).
- Payment data: if you subscribe, our payment processor handles your card details - we never see or store your full card number.
- Technical data: basic device and usage information needed to run the service securely.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the service (performance of a contract): run your account, save your progress and show your readiness.
- To personalise your learning (legitimate interests): adapt practice to your weak areas and power the AI coach and the “what next” recommendations.
- To take payment (performance of a contract) where you subscribe.
- To keep the service secure and improve it (legitimate interests).
4. Who we share it with
We use trusted processors who act on our instructions: our database and authentication provider (Supabase, hosted in the UK/EU, London, eu-west-2), our hosting provider (Vercel), an AI provider to generate coaching replies (Anthropic), our email provider (Resend), our payment processor (Stripe), and a scanning microservice host for test-availability checks (Railway). We do not sell your personal data. Your coaching questions are sent to the AI provider only to produce your answer.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we mark it for deletion immediately and remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal obligations, for example, payment records, and consent records which we may retain for up to 7 years.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- access a copy of your data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data (“right to erasure”);
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable format.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, or email us to exercise any of these rights. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
7. Cookies & local storage
We use essential storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences (such as theme and study settings). We ask for your choice on non-essential cookies via the banner shown on your first visit; you can change it any time by clearing the preference in your browser.
8. Children
The service is intended for users old enough to begin UK driving-licence preparation. It is not aimed at younger children.
9. Changes & contact
We may update this policy; we’ll change the date below when we do. For any privacy question or request, contact us through the app. Always verify official driving rules and fees on GOV.UK.
