Safeguarding policy

Many learner drivers on LicencePath are 17, so some of the people we serve are children. This page sets out what the app does to help keep them safe, the standards we expect from instructors, and how to tell us about a concern.

How to report a concern

  • When you are signed in, use Report a concern on the instructor’s profile in Find an instructor.
  • Or email founder@rainfame.tech with the subject Safeguarding.
  • Each report is saved and sent to our safeguarding lead by email. If the email cannot be sent, the app tells you, so you can email us directly.
  • A report of harassment or a safeguarding concern is set to suspend the instructor’s profile automatically while we look into it. If the suspension cannot be made automatically, our safeguarding lead is told and acts on it by hand.
  • We share information with the police or the local authority when someone is at risk or the law requires it.

What the app does today

  • An instructor appears in Find an instructor only after we have approved the profile.
  • Profile accepted by LicencePath means our team accepted this instructor's profile and the details they gave us. We have not checked their badge with the DVSA register and we do not monitor when it expires. Ask to see their badge before your first lesson.
  • A learner connects to an instructor only by accepting their invite, sees what the instructor can see, and can disconnect in Settings at any time.
  • A learner can block an instructor so they no longer see them.
  • A parent or supervisor does not get an account. The learner can share a private link with them that shows progress. It expires after 90 days and the learner can switch it off at any time.

What we expect from instructors

  • Keep professional boundaries at all times.
  • You may use your own phone or messaging app with a learner, but only to arrange and run lessons.
  • Report any safeguarding concern about a learner to us straight away.
  • Follow our instructor code of conduct.

What we ask of learners and parents

  • Tell us about any concern, however small, using one of the ways above.
  • If something feels wrong, talk to a parent, carer or someone you trust, or call Childline.
